Antioxidant has been a 'buzz' word for a few years now and slowly but surely we are understanding how these magnificent ingredients, not only promote inner health but outer health and beauty as well.

What is an antioxidant and why should we use them? Antioxidants are like 'bodyguards' for our cells. As we age, we 'rust'. Ironically, the very air the gives us life and what causes iron to rust, fruit to brown, also causes our bodies cells to break down and age. Through a series of chemical changes, oxygen molecules in our bodies lose electrons, making them unstable. These unstable molecules are called free radicals. In frantic attempts to stabilize themselves, free radicals pillage electrons from healthy cells throughout our body. Every time they steal an electron, two things happen; a healthy molecule is damaged and more free radicals are created. Unless this process is stopped, an increasing number of cells are damaged and our health pays the price. Our health can diminish and we age prematurely.

To keep this destructive process under control, nature created an enormous arsenal of antioxidants, which are compounds in plant materials that can stop free radicals from doing harm. Antioxidants come between free radicals and your body's healthy cells, offering up their own electrons and preventing yours from being pillaged! Although scientists are researching new antioxidant compounds every day, three main antioxidants are proving still to be the best. They are Vitamin C & E and beta-carotene (which when consumed changes to Vitamin A in the body).

This is why our new Antioxidant Skin Care range is loaded with these 'super' vitamins from oils and extracts such as: kakadu plum; the world's highest known source of Vitamin C, green tea; a powerful antioxidant high in polyphenols, rosehip oil; also a very high source of Vitamin C, Natural Vitamin E, Vitamin A, carrot seed oil; source of beta-carotene, sea buckthorn oil; also high Vitamin C and beta-carotene content and many more super nourishing plant oils and butters.
