Naturally Divine Nit Care products have been specially formulated by a Hairdresser with over 17 years experience.

After researching the harshness of the usual chemical treatments, we decided to formulate a natural, chemical free product from natural ingredients, that not only controlled lice and their eggs but did not harm our precious children in any way!

These products are not only effective, non-toxic and SAFE, they smell pleasant and also act like a moisturising treatment on the hair.

What are Head Lice?

  • Head lice are tiny little insects that live on the scalp and feed by sucking blood.  Their bites cause itching and scratching, which can lead to scalp infections and dermatitis, as well as being downright annoying!
  • Female lice lay eggs (or nits), which look like small whitish specks about the size of a pinhead and are glued to the hair close to the scalp (usually about an inch from the scalp).
  • Nits hatch within six days and mature into adult lice in about ten days.
  • Lice live for about a month but cannot survive for more than two days away from the human scalp and their food supply.
How do you catch head lice?

  • The lice are spread through head-to-head contact, especially between young children at school.  Headlice eggs (nits) glue to the hair shaft and are difficult to see.
  • They cannot fly, hop or jump.  They can also be spread by sharing personal items such as combs, hats and brushes, especially within families.
  • Anyone, from any walk of life can be affected.  Lice are not a symptom of dirty hair.
  • Probably between 2-3 per cent of school children are infested at any one time but during outbreaks, it can rise to 10 per cent.
How can I tell if a Family Member has head lice?

  • Lice can be hard to see on the scalp, as they move quickly.
  • Nits are seen as small, whitish flecks securely attached to the base of the hairs, especially behind the ears and the nape of the neck.
  • Itching of the scalp and complaints of an itchy scalp.
How do I treat head lice using Naturally Divine Kid's Nit Care Products?

  • Apply Naturally Divine Kid's Nit Care oil to wet hair, (otherwise the oil will be too hard to remove).
  • Leave on the hair for a minimum of 1 hour, preferably up to 3 hours.  Whilst oil is on use a fine tooth nit comb and remove as many eggs and lice as possible.  Remember that whilst this oil is on the hair, it is acting like a super moisturising treatment.
  • After the recommended time, shampoo the oil from the hair.  You may need to shampoo more than once, to remove thoroughly.
  • Application must be repeated after 7 days, to reduce the chance of re-infestation.
Why are the usual chemist treatments not good for our children?

The usual mainstream treatments used to treat headlice, are basically pesticides.  The most common ones are Malothion, Maldison, Carbaryl, Phenothrin and Permethrin.  Lindane was also used in the past but has now been banned due to it's high toxicity levels!   They are all synthetic Pyrethroids, which are neurotoxins.  The US EPA classifies them all as carcinogens, stating that they are considerably more toxic to our children.  Today, headlice resistance to these chemicals is very common.  So theoretically, we are exposing our children to dangerous chemicals, that don't always work!

With warnings like; wear rubber gloves when applying; do not use if pregnant, have sensitive skin or are a child under 12 months; keep out of reach of children as treatments are toxic and do not allow product to enter eyes!!!!!  Why would you unnecessarily use these products, when these kind of warnings point to their toxicity levels.

Some important do's!

DO     treat all family members.
DO     soak brushes, combs, hats and hair clips etc in hot water for approximately 10 minutes.
DO     wash bed linen and towels, as head lice can live off the hair for up to 48 hours.
DO     check your Child's hair regularly!
DO     MOST IMPORTANTLY  follow our instructions carefully.  No nit care product is 100% successful.  If you do not repeat the application in 7 days, you risk re-infestation.  If by any chance one egg is missed, it will hatch within this 7 days, therefore it is imperative that you repeat the application.
